PART II:  SECONDARY ORGANIZATIONS

I. IDENTIFYING DATA:

Title:  Movimiento Recuperacion Revolucionaria Cubano
           Cuban Revolutionary Recovery Movement

Splinter group of MRR.  Leftist toward radical.  Rebuffed Manuel RAY approach to merge with the JURE, but several members attended Sept. meeting of JURE in Puerto Rico.  In contact with MDC and ELN in Cuba.

Leading Personalities:  In U. S.:  Renaldo CRUZ Blanco; Rolando GAMBOA Mouriz; Pedro Luis DIAZ Lanz (withdrew summer 1962); Ricardo LORI; Mario FONTELA; Pedro LEYVA; In Cuba:  Jose LIMA Suarez (arrested); Enrique OVIEDO; Tony ALDEREGUIA.

II.  HISTORY

Broke from MRR in June 60, defying leadership of Manuel ARTIME.  In July 1960, the General Assembly in exile confirmed ARTIME as Secretary General; ousted Angel ROS Escala.  LORIE and Hinginio (Nino) DIAZ (DIAZ later returned to the MRR).  Sept 61 sent team of organizers throughout Cuba to arrange formation of one strong group. With branches in all areas of Cuba. In August 62 a sanguine message was sent out of Cuba to DIAZ Lanz which stated MRRC has reorganized, and awaited orders of DIAZ Lanz.

III.  CURRENT STATUS

300 supporters in exile.  No record of significant clandestine operations. Claim 1450 men in Matanzas Province without arms or supplies; in Havana, 1000 dormant members, organized in 6 sections; no arms or explosive; clandestine newspaper published infrequently.   Claim some strength in Camaguey, Las Villas, and Oriente.
