PART II:  SECONDARY ORGANIZATIONS

I. IDENTIFYING DATA:

Common Title:  Junta Nacional Revolucionaria
                         National Revolutionary Unity

Political:  Unity of the military components inside Cuba of MDC, (CARLOS faction), RDR, UR, and MRTN.  Advocate reestablishment of democratic regime based on 1940 Constitution.  Stated desire to cooperate with CRC and in July 1962 asked support of CRC president Jose MIRO Cardona.

II.  HISTORY

JNR pact signed June 62.  MRP, MRR and DRE participated in early discussions but did not join.  Member organizations retain their entity.  Unity formed to create stronger voice for material aid from U. S. and exile groups and create stronger, more coordinated military force in Cuba.  VARONA refused RDR exile support.  JNR included in 30 Aug 62 "uprising" plan which resulted in roll-up of leaders of most participating organizations.

III.  CURRENT STATUS

Current unity value of JNR questionable as member movements hard hit by G-2, and are lacking in supplies.  Effects of 30 August roll-up yet to be assessed.
