PART II:  SECONDARY ORGANIZATIONS

I. IDENTIFYING DATA:

Common Title:  F. L. N.

Title:  Frente de Liberacion Nacional
           National Liberation Front

"Non-political" organization based in Miami; leftist movement composed mainly of former Cuban army men.  Reported to be "remarkably nationalistic".  Claims branches Mexico, Costa Rica. Panama and Venezuela.  Basic Principle:  To establish a national unity to overthrow CASTRO.  Opposes CRC but supports Jose MIRO Cardona as potential president-in-exile.  Member FULN which joined P-GCC.

Leading Personalities:  In U. S. Dr. Aureliano SANCHEZ Arango; Eusebio MUJAL Barniol; Antonio FERNANDEZ Macho; Armando GARCIA Sifredo; Dr. Ramon PEREZ Veitia; Maria RAMOS; Felix HERNANDEZ Tellaeche; Dr. Humberto NUNEZ; Dr. Orlando BOSCH; D. Ovidio MANALICH; Dr. Luis PONS; Dr. Ernesto AZUA; Dr. Fausto WATERMANN; Raul MARTINEZ Araras; Jose PINEIRO; Dr. Rafael GUAS Inclan.  In Cuba:  Arturo HERNANDEZ Tellaeche, former ULN head, in prison; Avelino LOPEZ; "Cuco" SUAREZ, Chief, FLN.  In Venezuela:  Rafael GONZALEZ.

II.  HISTORY

Claim to have had success infiltrating Cuba militia force; also in acquiring some arms from disillusioned militiamen.  Have reportedly accomplished some clandestine work in Cuba, types unspecified.  Still have contact with some elements in Cuba.  In April 1962, did not participate but supported the attempt to form Cuban Government in Exile under sponsorship Guatemala P. es YDIGORAS.  In Cuba, FLN reportedly made and distributed 12,000 armbands and also issues membership cards to members.

III.  CURRENT STATUS

Current activities and plans unknown.  Possibly serves only as additional platform from which SANCHEZ Arango…in their own interests.
