II. HISTORY
Date and Place of Origin: In Cuba shortly after
Castro's
accession to power. Exile group established in Miami
in November
1960 as a member of the FRD. Later became independent
organization.
Activities: Primarily preparation and distribution of
anti-Castro/Communist propaganda aimed at Latin America and
Cuba.
Has developed a well organized and effective distribution
mechanism,
whose printed prop material is circulating in quantity
throughout Latin
America. Concerned primarily with problems in the
educational
field; warns Latin American countries of the communist
threat; attempts
to develop resistance inside Cuba to Communist
indoctrination and
propaganda; and seeks solutions to the problems which will
arise in a
free Cuba. Buys radio time; sponsors tours of selected
members to
Latin American countries; corresponds with teachers and
special
interest groups throughout Latin America; participates in
international
teachers' conferences; prepares taped radio prop programs
beamed at
Cuba.

are
salaried. Claims membership of over 2000, with some
1650 in the
Miami area; 160 in other parts of the U. S.; and
approximately 480
