reference is made to your letter of May 3, 1961, requesting information
on the "INTERNATIONAL BUREAU OF ANTI-COMMUNIST LEGION," 746 S.
Normandie Avenue, Los Angeles.
The local address of this organization is now 126 S. Vendome Avenue, Los Angeles.
From 1958 until just recently, the "I.B.A.C.L." has been rather
inactive in this area, however, they are presently selling $1.00 to
$5.00 "bond" donations, proceeds of which are to be used to support a
program of fighting Communism.
A recent interview of ORFELIA (MRS. JULIO) CHIROLDE, formerly ORFELIA
WOJTASCHEK, by a confidential source, indicates that they are now
active in giving lectures before Spanish speaking groups, explaining
the evils of Communism. It is indicated that the purpose of the
Legion is practically the same as that given in the 1955 report on that
group, a copy of which is enclosed.
During 1955, ALFREDO and ORFELIA WOJTASCHEK and JULIO CHIROLDE, were
operating the "ANTI-COMMUNIST LEGION" aka "INTERNATIONAL BUREAU
ANTI-COMMUNIST LEGION," in Havana, Cuba.
We are enclosing a copy of the type of identification cards used by the
members of the "I.B.A.C.L." which appears to be the same as identified
in your letter, as well as information concerning the New York
operation and the 1955 rundown on the organization.

I. REASON FOR REPORT
Investigation made of subject organization, due to frequent inquiries by various outside enforcement agencies.
Subject organization was chartered in Havana, Cuba, in 1945, and
commenced operations in the Los Angeles, California area in 1945, and
in New York area in 19j59. The stated purpose of this group is to
rid Cuba of Communist domination and to operate in South America, to
prevent Communist domination and infiltration in local
government. Prior to the CASTRO control of Cuba, they were at
odds with the BATISTA regime and worked for his overthrow.

one JULIO CHIROLDE, 126 S. Normandie, Apt. 2-B, Los Angeles, California.

The president of the Florida area is PEDRO PERDIGN, 1322 S.W. 7th Street, Apartment 2, Miami, Florida.
The head of the New York chapter, ALFREDO WOJTASZEK, was born in
Havana, Cuba, on March 19, 1926, is described as 5-7, 165, brown hair
and green eyes. He entered the United States on February 23,
1952, at Miami, Florida. Alien registration
number-A8-240544. Lafter a short stay in Florida, he proceeded to
Los Angeles, California, and from there moved to New York City,
arriving on July 2, 1959. He has been unemployed for the past six
months, but prior to that, had been steadily employed as a waiter at
various New York City restaurants. WOJTASZEK is presently seeking
United States Citizenship under application number 723390, and states
in his petition, that he intends to change his name to ALEXANDER LAMAR,
for reasons of convenience.
The recent activities of the subject organization has been the selling
of bonds at $1.00 to $5.00 each, proceeds of which will be used to
support a program of fighting Communism. The names appearing on
their literature, locally, are EVANGELIO FUENTES, 1144 Burton Way, Sun
Valley, California. JULIO A. CHIROLDE, 126 S. Vendome Street, Los
Angeles, California, and OFELIA D.CHIROLDE, secretary of relations.
NOTE:
ALFREDO WOJTASZEK is also known as WOJTASCHEK, WOJTA and plans to change name to ALEXANDER LAMAR.
ORFELIA WOJTASZEK aka OFELIA WOJTASCHEK is now married to JULIO CHIROLDE.
