PART II:  SECONDARY ORGANIZATIONS

I.  IDENTIFYING DATA

Common Title:  U. C. A. L.

Title:  Unidad Cubana de Accion Libertadora
           Cuban Union of Liberating Action

Political:  Member of UR, MRAC and ULN.  Follows basic UR orientation in exile.  Can be considered "right" due to original make up of ex-military personnel.  Cooperates with "Montecristo".  Not a member of CRC.

Leading Personalities:  In U. S.:  Elio TAMAYO, Rep. to UR; Jose Raul ARANGO, Natl. Secty., exile:  fnu SALAZAR.  In Cuba:  Ex Rebel Capt. Gilberto RODRIGUEZ, founder; Mrs. Silvia CIDRE, mother of Raul ARANGO, in prison; (fnu) LEON, in prison; Felix RAMIREZ; Lario Silvio PERDOMO Lorena.

II.  HISTORY

Date and Place of Origin:  February 1959, Pinar del Rio, Cuba.

Principal Activities to Date:  Reportedly maintained some guerrillas in northern zone of Matanzas and in Habana Province.  Effectiveness cannot be determined.

III.  CURRENT STATUS

Has eight persons in exile and believed to have not too many more in Cuba.  Participates in UR activities in exile.  ARANGO had a transmitter and receiver installed in his home in June 62 and claimed to have seven such pieces of equipment in Cuba which had been taken in by infiltration teams.
