PART II:  SECONDARY ORGANIZATIONS

I. IDENTIFYING DATA:

Common Title:  F. A. C. or F. A. C. C.

Title:   Frente Anticomunista Cristiano
            Christian Anti-communist Front

Basic Principles:  Two different organizations use this title: (1) Original FAC; led by Ricardo JIMENEZ, (former member of pre-Castro Liberal Party), allegedly BATISTA-oriented.

(2)  FAC of CONTE Aguero, former head of the Frente Humanista Cristiano.  CONTE began using title FAC August 1960.  This group described as made up for "defected Fidelistas".

Leading Personalities: (1) Original FAC:  Ricardo JIMENEZ Nunez, head of Original FAC and apparently still active in this organization.  Jose Luis MENENDEZ, proposed pilot for FAC infiltration operation planned for October 1961; Pedro SALVA, military advisor. (2)  Second FAC:  Luis CONTE Aguero, until Feb 1962 CRC propaganda chief; Joaquin Armando NART Bargo, Tampa representative.

II.  HISTORY

(1)  Original FAC:  In June 60, JIMENEZ said FAC was political propaganda organization, with underground in Cuba; involved in recruiting for "army" Pan-American Confederation of Col. Luis MORALES Patino; in fall 61 asked U. S. assistance in 20-man infil operation.
(2)  Second FAC:  CONTE's  FAC described Aug 62 as a group in name only; joined with O. A., CCC, and an MRR faction to form the A. L., which never developed into an effective group.  Was in CRC, but withdrew Feb 62 after disagreement between CONTE and MIRO.  Disbanded Mar 62; CONTE devoting his time independently to radio broadcasting and writing daily column for DIARIO LAS AMERICAS.  Small group in Tampa under NART Bargo was active in Dec. 61 with other Tampa CR groups, but nothing is known of it since FAC disbanded by CONTE.

III.  CURRENT STATUS

(1)  No record of current activity by FAC of JIMENEZ.

(2)  FAC of CONTE Aguero disbanded
