CUBAN AMERICAN DEFAMATION
LEAGUE (CADL) HOSTS BANQUET
The Cuban American Defamation League (CADL), an organization
headed by
Xiomara Almaguer and Eddie Levy which in the past were
perceived as
leftist by a large segment of he Cuban exile community, will
be hosted
a banquet at the Airport Hilton on Saturday, September 7,
1996, at 7:00
p.m.
Almaguer has been very vocal in the media about perceived
"mistreatment" of Cuban singer Rosita Fornes by City of
Miami Beach
government. As a result, Almaguer has received several
deaths
threats, and in addition, a vehicle that belongs to a
relative was
vandalized by unknown parties.
The aforementioned banquet is expected to be attended by
approximately
200 guests (most of which have been targeted in the past by
hard line
members of the Cuban exile community). During the
proceedings,
humanitarian awards will be presented to the Jimmy Carter
Foundation
and also Cuban exile newspaperman Nicolas Rios.
