UPDATE NO: CIB-302
DATE: June 15, 1995
DETECTIVE: L. Rodriguez
TELEPHONE: [deleted]

The following information has been received by this office:

City of Miami Police Department, Special Investigation Section has advised that the Mayors of America Conference will be held at the Inter-Continental Hotel, June 16 thru 20, 1995.  The attendance of California Governor, Pete Wilson, has been confirmed, and could attract demonstrators with opposing views to the site.  In the past, Wilson has encountered strong opposition as a result of his support of Proposition 87.

Additionally, Attorney General Janet Reno is expected to meet leaders of Cuban exile anti-Castro organizations on Sunday, June 18, 1995, at City of Miami City Hall.  Ms. Reno has been strongly criticized for her support of anti-migratory regulations that prohibit entrance of Cuban refugees to the United States.

To date, Miami Police Department has not received any requests for demonstrations permits at either site; however, due to the sensitive of these events, impromptu demonstrations could be encountered.

City of Miami S.I.S. will inform this office of any future chances regarding this matter.
