Cuban Crisis at Naval Base at Guantanamo
Demonstration May 1995

As a result of the latest developments in the ongoing Cuban crisis at the U.S. Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and recent statements by U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno concerning the future repatriation of Cuban rafters to Cuba, the following activities have been planned by local Cuban exile organizations.

May 4 & 5, 1995
Demonstrations by Brigade 2506, Mothers Against Repression, and other organizations at the British Consulate, located at 1001 S. Bayshore Drive, Miami, Florida (4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.)

May 5, 1995
Planned caravan for the purpose of cruising through Dade County.  Radio station commentators have summoned the participation of large numbers of motorists, inclusive of heavy equipment operators.  Meeting location has been set at the Orange Bowl, for 4:00 p.m.  Sponsored by Unidad Cubana (Cuban Unity) for the purpose of creating a grid lock in an attempt to attract attention to its plight.  Specific routes are unknown at this time.

May 6, 1995
Planned political rally in support of Congressman Dan Burton (supporter of Free Cuba bill), at 7:00 p.m., location Radisson Mart Plaza, 711 N.W. 72nd Avenue, Miami, Florida.  The Management for the Radisson Mart Plaza has refused to permit a planned demonstration on property grounds.  However, attendance at the event is expected at between 500-600.

Note: A tourism conference will be held at the time location at an adjoining facilitate, though no relationship exists between the events, attendance at the tourism conference is expected to be at nearly 100,000.

May 19, 1995
A Spanish War ship is expected to arrive at the Port of Miami for a previously planned ceremony in honor of the Spanish Government.  Local exiles, though many direct Spanish descendants, view Spain as a collaborating and supporting nation of the Castro Regime.  Local radio stations are presently exhorting exiles to prepare for a demonstrations at that location.

May 20, 1995
This date signifies the 93rd anniversary of Cuba's victory of Spain occupying forces.
