DATE: April 25, 1995
DETECTIVE: L. Rodriguez
TELEPHONE: [deleted]

The following information was furnished by El Nuevo Herald on Tuesday, April 25, 1995.

Jaime Ortega-Alamino, the newly appointed Cardinal of Cuba, has announced plans to visit South Florida.

Details of the upcoming visit have not been finalized; however, it is expected that Ortega-Alamino will visit this city during the month of May 26 thru 28, 1995.  Among those locations which will be visited by Ortega-Alamino will be Saint Mary's Cathedral, Ermita De La Caridad and Saint Thomas University.  Ortega-Alamino is viewed as Cuba's only hope of liberation from its totalitarian regime by a large segment of South Florida's Cuban exile community.  His visit to this area could draw crowds of followers to the listed locations similar to those that convened during Pope John Paul's visit in the late 1980's.

This officer will contact the Archdiocese of Miami and will provide updated details in the near future.
