1995 Demonstrations & Rallies
February -
Mr. Keving Miles, leader of the "Alleluia Group/St. Peter and Paul Church", held a prayer vigil against abortion at the "South West Clinic," located at 752 West Flagler Street.

March -
Animal Rights Foundation of Florida (ARFF) demonstrated in the entrance of the Miami Seaquarium in a campaign to "Free the Whale," Lolita to freedom.

Partido Pueblo Cubano Ortodoxo, a member of the umbrella organization known as Unidad Cubana hosted a rally at the Torch of Friendship in support of Senator Jesse Helms' recently introduced legislation which seeks to strengthen the previously established U.S. Assets Control Act.

April-May
A rally organized by Unidad Cubana was held at Tropical Park in response to changes in immigration guidelines implemented at the Guantanamo Naval Base.

Veye Yo, a Haitian group, protested at the INS building, demanding the immediate release of all unaccompanied minors being detained at the Guantanamo Naval Base.

1995 Conferences

February
 During Haitian Prime Minister Michel Smark's visit to Miami, in his honor, a reception an press conference was held at the Crown Plaza.

As part of Black history month Celebrations, controversial nation of Islam Muslim members Eric Muhammad and Khalid Muhammad were invited to speak at FIU.

April-May
Cuban Nationals Kenia Serrano and Rogelio Polanco Fuentes, members of the Center of Studies for Youth in Havana, Cuba, addressed a select group of guests at FIU concerning the U.S. Embargo against Cuba.

June
Pete Wilson, Governor of California, attended the Mayors of America Conference at the Inter-Continental Hotel.
