On Monday 28 October 1963, I contacted informant
known to us as "88", and information obtained from him is as follows:
"88" attended a CONSTITUTIONAL PARTY OF AMERICA
in Indianapolis, Indiana, last week. While there at this convention
he met numerous persons known to this office as extremists and troublemakers.
Information obtained by "88" is that KENNETH GULF, and COLONEL GALE are coming
to Florida in an attempt to stir up the people down here; probably on the
lower east coast. His information is that they want to train and recruit
men for physical action. This is going to be a "Hate Campaign" according
to "88".
Information that STONER has been run out of
Birmingham because of a disagreement with the top members of the K.K.K.
He is now in Atlanta with a Mr. Venerrman. It is noted that this VENERRMAN,
KERSEY and a WILEY BUTTERWORTH are very active in the K.K.K. throughout the
south. "88" talked to BUTTERWORTH in Indianapolis and BUTTERWORTH stated
"That only thing that (they) understand is dynamite and bullets".
A Mr. MILTEER contacted JAMES KEATHLEY and
he did work with KEATHLEY in a Civil Rights Program. MILTEER is expected
to be in Miami next week (Nov, 9, 1963). A man by the name of LEE MC
CLOUD from Atlanta will be here with this MILTEER.
The general feeling of "88" is that the STATES
RIGHTS PARTY is going to attempt to organize in the east coast of Florida
and begin actions. This statement is made because "88" received information
that COLONEL GALE and SWIFT are going to start a "Hate Campaign" soon somewhere
on the east coast.
